![]() ![]() ![]() In fact I was impressed with all of the NOrthridge series I would easily recomend the N26II, or any other Northridge speaker for that matter, to anyone who wants a teriffic speaker with rich sound at a very attractive price! Perhaps when I get a bigger place and/or budget I might look into the ND310II as I really liked the way they sounded in the store. Overall I think the system is very nice and the JBL N26II really adds the touch. All wires and interconnects are mid-level Monster Cable and the speakers are situated atop 30" high stands. I run the speakers with an Onkyo Integra A-8700 integrated amp (about 13 years old), an Onkyo DX-701 single disc CD player (maybe 6 years old), and a Toshiba SR 255 turntable (about 20 years old). However, I do think I will add a JBL PD-10 (I think that is the model) powered sub just to take some of the low frequency responsibility away from the N26II and to give a bit more weight to the sound. I didn't think I would be as pleased with such a small speaker as this one but I must admit I am absolutely thrilled with these little puppies. My listening tastes are things like The Who, Rush, Rolling Stones, CCR, Jewel, Weezer, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac.and the JBL's have never failed to put a smile on my face. The little 6" woofers put out a surprising amount of bass and do it with almost no perceptible amount of stress. ![]() The highs are crisp and clean with excellent imaging and no harshness at all. Well, right away I noticed how cleaner the little JBL's sounded compared to the big Vega's. I live in a one bedroom apartment so I was hoping I could get by just fine with a smaller speaker. I bought the JBL N26II to replace a pair of Cerwin Vega DX-7's that are about 10-12 years old. Ive read people complaining that the mids on these speakers are muddy.well get a Denon or Yamaha reciever and get rid of your pos sony and your problem will dissappear. The mids are perfectly balanced and very clean though not as clean as the beautifull highs, the bass is there anyone who says otherwise is nuts, tell them to change the settings on their reciever, if you want mroe bass well get a sub.I have nothign bad to say about these speakers, they are a good size and will fill practically any room with a good receiver or amp. The Highes are beautifully crafted without being fatiguing or ear splitting. This system is in my upstairs bedroom and at about 20% volume i can listen to them comfortably from anywhere in my 2100 sq. These speakers are awsome i have them paired up with a Yamaha 5560 reciever and the combination is perfect. No they do nto have as much as a sub, but hey, its a six inch driver. BS! First take into consideration that these are 6" drivers, then put in a Red Hot Chilli Peppers Cd, some techno, or even the Who and tell me these speak's dont have any base. ![]() I have read alot of complaints that these speakers have no base. I have had these for 3 weeks now and they are jsut starting to get broken in. I have to say the closest you'll get to these it a big pair of bose towers or a tower yamaha.(still not that great for the size)įirst of all let me say that these speakers are increadible especially since i got them so cheep, you can also get tehm on sale at best buy for $200. Sony, KLH, Yamaha, and and small Bose cant match these. The N26 outdoor sounded horrible to these. it sounded like it!! They have a very good design and the speaker material is superb. There was another guy next to me looking at the same speaker and he also was checking to make sure a sub wasn't on. I think they sound fuller than the 3-way 8" JBL bookshelf speaker (u might not believe me but seriously)!! The highs are so well dispersed i cant believe how wide and spacious they sound. They have an amazing bass response for their size and they can hold that bass for a very decent volume. The JBL's sounded good at any volume level. BUT they had to be played louder to sound as good. They were pretty big and had more bass than the JBL's and sounded almost as good. The first was big KLH speakers with a 10" woofer. I do not actually own this product.YET! Like a good boy I did my research for about a week on the internet and found 4 different speakers to look at around the $200 range. ![]()
